Belvidere Bucs vs. Boylan Titans (Varsity)

Rivalry - "One of two or more striving to reach or obtain something that only one can possess." - Webster Dictionary

Normally when speak of rivals in sports most people think of Cubs-Cardinals or Bears-Packers, Yankees-Red Sox. Not me. Dealing with local high schools, I can only think of BHS vs. Boylan. This game was big...really big. The game would have a playoff atmosphere. Boylan wanted to win really big as it was their homecoming. Belvidere also wanted to win really big as Boylan took the NIC-9 Championship last year, which BHS had held the year before.

This night, Boylan wanted it more beating Belvidere 41-6. The score would be deceiving though as the Bucs would have 342 yards total offense but only put 6 points on the board. Several turnovers inside of the 10 yard line early on and penalties on the Bucs (5-55 yards) would dictate the tone of the game.

The Bucs first two drives in the first half went 70+ yards. Each drive would end up around inside of the 10. Each drive would produce a turnover (a fumble and an end zone interception intended for Charles Chatman). The offense would gain 342 yards (253 on the ground and 83 in the air). However, that would pale in comparison to the Titans 463 total yards on offense (401 on the ground and 62 through the air).

The Bucs' lone score would come during the second quarter when would go down the field 80 yards on 12 plays and score on a Patrick O'Brien 1-yard run.

The Bucs next game is against their newest rival, Belvidere North and is being billed as the Castle Challenge.  The Bucs are the home team for the Castle Challenge.  The game begins at 7:15 pm  next Friday night.  Why not come out and support both schools.  Good luck Bucs!!!
