BELVIDERE, IL - Both the Belvidere Bucs and Rockford East E-Rabs would be looking for their second win of the season on Friday.  East wanted to get their second win after winning last week against Belvidere North.  For Belvidere it would mean their second win after four weeks  of playing the top schools in the NIC-10 (their last win was the first game against Auburn).   With a final score of 19-14,  Belvidere would get the win on their Homecoming.

 Both teams would not be able to score until the 2nd quarter.  East would get on the board first with a 51–yard pass from Andrew Lantz to Matthew Mallon.  Then Belvidere would score on 3 more series in the quarter.  Belvidere fullback, Marcus Gooden would score twice both on big runs (64-yard run and 21-yard runs).  Belvidere quarterback, Troy Vandenbroek would also score in the second quarter with a run from the 3-yard line.  At halftime, Belvidere would lead East, 19-6.

  Costly penalties (11 penalties for 107-yards) and turnovers (5) would plague Belvidere in the second half.  It would even cost Belvidere another touchdown (Dan King’s touchdown would be negated with a penalty).  On one series, East would capitalize on Belvidere’s penalties. A turnover on downs, mainly due to penalties lead to an East touchdown at the 5:39 mark of the third quarter when Darshawn Phumphrey-King would score from 10-yards out.  The final would be 19-14.

  Next week, Belvidere hosts their long time rival Boylan.  Belvidere can compete if they keep their penalties and turnovers down.  Come on out and support the Bucs!
