BELVIDERE, IL - Many things were riding on last night’s game for Belvidere against their conference rival, the Boylan Titans.  The game would be Belvidere’s last chance to make it into the playoff hunt, to have a possible over .500 season record and a chance to upset the top dog in the conference who have a five year perfect record against NIC-10 teams.  Unfortunately for the Bucs the answer would be better luck next year against Boylan.  Turnovers, turnovers, turnovers would be the key to the Bucs’ demise.  Five turnovers at key times would eventually lead to a Buc loss, 28-22.  It would be a tale of two halves.

Belvidere would start the game strong on both sides of the ball.  During the first half of play, Belvidere would have six drives while the Boylan would handle the ball only four times.  Two of Belvidere’s drives  (the first two) would result in Belvidere scoring on  two 3-yard runs from Buc quarterback, Troy Vandenbroek and Buc halfback, David Gamboa.   The Belvidere defense would stun Boylan’s fans holding them to just 38-yards total offense in the first half.  At halftime the Bucs would lead Boylan, 14-0.

The second half would see Boylan pick-up their game offensively and defensively.  Belvidere would make things hard on themselves offensively with turnover after turnover.  Several times Belvidere would be primed to score and then turnover the ball.  Boylan would be able to capitalize on the turnovers and score.  Boylan would score four rushing touchdowns in the second half while Belvidere would get one more score with 0:31 left on the clock in the fourth. 

Next week, Belvidere plays cross-town rival Belvidere North at the Milt Brown Stadium for bragging rights in Belvidere.  Why not come out and cheer for your favorite Belvidere team.  Go Bucs!!!
