Chicago may be bigger in lots of ways but not in the test of wills that occurred yesterday, 11/03/07, at Gately Stadium on the South side of Chicago against Robeson.
Several marks were reached during the shootout that would have the Bucs winning the contest 42-40. The Bucs would advance to the next round, Kyle Tevebaugh would reach the 1000 yard club with his 113 yard passing and Patrick O'Brien would run for 6 TDs off of 36 carries and 292 yards. Standing on the sidelines all that could be heard was the praise of O'Brien's running ability, His 292 yards weren't just running...they were from hopping over defenders, leaping over them and often dragging them for the 292 yards. O'Brien's 6 TDs would also be a new school record.
Despite being the first on the board in the first quarter, the Bucs would trail all the way until the 6:26 mark of the 4th quarter. The Bucs would decide to go for a critical 2-point conversion after an O'Brien 1-yard TD run. This would eventually be the difference in the game. Robeson at the 2:01 mark of the 4th quarter would regain the lead with a 40-yard TD pass to Brandon Green. Their 2-point conversion would fail. The Bucs would drive down the field on 10 plays and score with 0:24 left in the game. Their extra point attempt would be no good and the final would be 42-40.
The Bucs next opponent on the road to Champaign is Morris at Morris on Saturday, 11/10/07, at 1:00 pm. Good luck Bucs!!!!
