04/17/11-BELVIDERE AT WEST CHICAGO STICKS AND STONES TOURNAMENT

The Belvidere Alpines went 1-2 over the weekend in the Varsity West Chicago Sticks and Stones Tournament.  The tournament was scheduled to go Saturday and Sunday but was abbreviated to a single day double elimination tournament because of poor weather on Saturday.

The Alpines lost their opening game to Lane Tech 6-5, defeated Neenah Wisconsin 4-2 and then fell to Appleton 5-3.  The Alpines were led by attackman Luke Bankord with 5 goals, Nick Grenlund's 3 goals and goalie Craig Steinkamp who only allowed 13 goals in 3 games.

The Alpines are now 1-4 in their first varsity season and return home on Thursday April 21st to play Waubonsie Valley at Belvidere North at 6:30 pm.
