Conference Match vs. Jefferson 12/14/2006 In Thursday’s Rockford Register Star, Jefferson’s girls bowling team was highlighted. They have three freshmen that are in the top 11 NIC-9 averages. They also are lead by last season Top 16 tournament winner, Nicole Duppler. Going into tonight’s match, we knew it would be tough but were hoping that we would have home field advantage. On the Varsity side, we struggled throughout all three games. Scores were down, with us finally hitting 1000 with a 1087 game in the 3rd. Ashley Schwartz had high game with a 211 and Melissa Christianson stayed consistent and finished with a 560 series. We give a lot of credit to Jefferson’s young team who was able to shoot team scores of 1066, 1220, and 1144. They also had a bowler shoot 694 and one with a 661. Inconsistent ball speed and missed spares hurt us the most. The JV team stayed a little closer. Christy Spurlock got the team started with a 193 in the first game followed by Tayler Lindberg’s 183 game. We shot 966 giving us a 64 pin lead going into the second game. In the 2nd game, our scores didn’t change a whole lot, but Jefferson’s shot up quickly. We shot 906 to their 1007. Going into the third game we were down by 37 pins. Lindy Wefel stepped up and had a 203 game but it was not enough to match a Jefferson bowler’s 242 game. Jefferson won the match 2948-2822. We now have the weekend off and hopefully we can regroup from this loss. We look forward to seeing everyone at our matches next week. Also, look for our make-up match against Auburn next week. Date TBD.
