FRESHMAN CHEERLEADING - SEASON OUTLOOK
by Freshman Cheerleading Coach - Chelsey Lee

This is the first time in several years that Belvidere High School has had a freshman football cheerleading team. The levels of experience for these ten unique ladies vary from those who have been in cheerleading since Belvidere Junior Tackle, to those who are cheering for the first time. However, it is obvious they all share several similarities when it comes to cheerleading. The ten freshman cheerleaders have determination, dedication and motivation to become the best cheerleader that they can be.

This is a great addition to the cheerleading program at BHS. It allows more opportunities for students to be involved in cheerleading, and it also gives that extra step cheerleaders need to prepare for varsity level. The transition from middle school to high school is similar to the transitions of levels in cheerleading. The freshman level allows for cheerleaders to perfect the basic essentials needed in cheerleading, as it also introduces them to the responsibilities and duties as a BHS cheerleader.

The coaching staff is very optimistic with this new addition to the cheerleading program. It is expected that the addition of a freshman level for cheerleading will continue to positively impact the Belvidere cheerleading program.
