The Sophomre Thunder was shut out against the BoylanTitans Friday night. Boylan took control of the game early with a 55 yard TD run and a successful PAT. During the 1st quarter the Titans scored every 2 minutes approximately. The Thunder was unable to get the ball past midfield throughout the 1st. The 1st quarter would end with the Thunder behind the Titans 21-0.
The 2nd quarter began with the Titans driving down the field against the Thunder defense. Boylan appeared to have a QB and one running back that were difficult to bring down. The Titan QB scored from 13 yards out at the end of the drive and was successful with the PAT.
The Thunder got the ball but was unable to get an offensive drive started. They were forced to punt and the Titan ball carrier took the ball 62 yards for the TD. Again were successful with the PAT and the score was 35-0 Boylan.
Towards the end of the 2nd quarter #53, for the Thunder pulled in an interception which gave the Thunder the ball 1st and 10 on the their own 42 yard line. The Thunder was unable to move the ball and was forced to punt. They punted and Boylan returned the ball for a touchdown. This brings the score going into half time 41-0.
The 3rd quarter was scoreless and appeared to us all as the fastest quarter on record. It just seemed like time zipped off of the clock. So not much to report there.
The final score for Boylan would be midway through the 4th quarter and they would be successful on the PAT. This making the final score 48-0. Even though it was a devastating loss I hope this team regroups and comes ready to play again next week.

The Varsity Thunder succumbs to the Boylan Titans 47-10 at Milt Brown Stadium Friday. I apologize upfront the shortness of this article since I had to leave at half time. My daughter and her friend were in a car accident and I had to leave when the call came in, sorry, dad first. Both are shook up but okay. So here goes the 1st half of play as I saw it.
The Thunder stepped out there on the field and was ready to play. Everyone is sick of hearing about the almighty Boylan and their football program. This reporter remembers back to the 70s when I played and we despised the Titans and I believe it has carried on through today. Anyway the Thunder defense was able to hold the Titans to 6 points in the 1st quarter. Boylan came out with there no huddle offense but that did not intimidate the Thunder defense.
It was obvious throughout the 1st and 2nd quarter that Boylan was well aware of the fact that Belvidere North has the best running back in the NIC-10 #21, Austin Smaha. They sent multiple people to hit him even he was not carrying the ball. So that opened up #7, Justin Ellingson and #11, Ryan Gamble. Both of these players making plays and moving the ball.
At 10:34 in the 2nd the Thunder had driven down to the 21 yard line and was faced with a 4th down. #45, Luke Bannon split the upright and scored a field goal to put 3 points on the board for the Thunder.
At 8:47 left in the 2nd quarter Boylan converts a touchdown from 14 yards out. They made up the missed PAT by converting a 2-point conversion pushing the score 14-3 Boylan.
Its midway in the 2nd quarter and the Thunder are forced to punt following a stalled drive. There was a mis-queue during the snap and the Thunder was forced to cover the ball at around their own 30 yard line. Boylan capitalized on this error and scored. So going into half time it was 21-3, Boylan.
I have no other information at this time due to my leaving the game but the word I got was the Thunder played a hard fought game. Be ready for next week guys.
Good Luck next week Thunder.
