2010 BOONE COUNTY FAIR QUEEN CONTEST

Queen Contestant # 1 Nikki Marie Papworth
Nikki is the 17 year old daughter of Rick and Gina Papworth. Nikki will be a senior at Belvidere High School in the fall and hopes to attend Eastern Illinois University to pursue a career as a Criminal Profiler. Nikki’s honors include MVP for Girls Varsity Golf and Girls Varsity Golf Captain; she is on the Honor Roll and was awarded Student of the Week. Nikki’s activities include babysitting, being the golf team captain and practicing competition dance. She enjoys playing with her dog, swimming, baking with her mom, playing golf, spending time with her friends and shopping. Nikki is sponsored by ASHLEY’S SALON AND DAY SPA, and her platform is Increase In Skin Cancer Among Teen Girls Using Tanning Beds. Queen Contestant #2 Vanessa Marie Lein
Vanessa is the 18 year old daughter of Timothy and Julia Lein. Vanessa will be a senior at Belvidere High School in the fall and plans to attend the University of Wisconsin to become a neo-natal nurse practitioner. Vanessa Honors include 2009 4-Her of the year, 2009, and Outstanding beef project member of the year. She was chosen as the State Fair Representative for Journalism through 4H and has been President of her 4-H club for 5 years. Vanessa has received the Friends of Tammy Godamski Feline Showmanship Award and is a member of the Northern Illinois Leadership Convention Committee. She was also awarded the Super Spirit Award for cheerleading. Vanessa’s activities include Boone County 4-H, 4-H Ambassadors, and Boone County 4-H Federation. She is active in her church youth group and Belvidere High School Competitive Cheer Team. Vannesa enjoys horseback riding, showing her cattle, cheerleading, tumbling, reading, and especially dancing. Vanessa sponsor is BUSY BEAVER LAWN CARE, and her platform is Funding For Mental Health. Queen Contestant #3 Erin Marie Hauser
Erin is the 19 year old daughter of Robert and Denise Hauser. Erin is a graduate of Belvidere North High School and has attended Clarke College in Dubuque, Iowa. She will be attending Rock Valley College in the fall to pursue an Associate Degree in Science. She will then move on to obtain her Bachelor’s Degree in Biology and teaching certificate. Erin hopes to teach middle or high school science. Erin currently works at Peak Sports Club in Loves Park where she supervises older children in an interactive game room and at the 30 foot rock wall. Erin’s honors include Illinois State Scholar, NIC-10 Scholar, National Honor Society, and the National Honor Society of High School Scholars. In her Junior and Senior years Erin was Captain of both her Varsity golf and soccer teams. Erin was awarded an athletic talent scholarship for golf at Clarke College. Erin is a Eucharistic Minister in her church and is involved with the youth ministry. She has volunteered in the Relay of life and Special Olympics. Erin enjoys golfing, soccer, reading, running, and swimming. Erin has found a new hobby in yoga and still has time to enjoy her family and friends and to go shopping. Erin is sponsored by BeSPACIFIC SALON AND SPA and her platform is Keeping Youth Active. Queen Contestant #4 Shawna Lynn Mackeben
Shawna is the 19 year old daughter of Jodie Burrier and Roger Mackeben. Shawna is a 2009 graduate of Belvidere High School and currently attending Northern Illinois University to pursue a major in elementary education and minor in Spanish. She will be completing her Spanish minor by studying in Spain. Shawna has been a server at the Belvidere Pizza Hut since 2007 and loves the interaction with new people everyday. Shawna’s honors include Captain of her Sophomore Cheerleading Squad, MVP for cheerleading her Junior year and All Conference NIC Ten base. Secretary for Quill and Scroll , a National Honor Society for Journalists. She has received both the United States Army Reserve National Scholar/ Athlete Award and the Laurie Potter Athlete Award. Shawna is on the Dean’s list and qualified for the National Honor Society of Collegiate Scholars at Northern Illinois University. While in high school Shawna was a three sport athlete all four years, track, basketball, soccer and cheerleading. She was on the newspaper staff, B Club, Zonta Club and Spanish Club. Shawna has coached the Belvidere Junior Tackle cheerleading squad, participated in both diabetic and breast cancer walks and is a volunteer at the Kishwaukee YMCA, and Mya’s house a shelter for battered woman and their children. She stays active at NIU with intramural soccer and volleyball and enjoys running and is currently training for the Chicago Marathon in October. Shawna is sponsored by WHITEHEAD REALTY and her platform is Encouraging Others To Be More Supportive of Athletics. Queen Contestant #5 Savannah Marie Peters
Savannah is the 16 year old daughter of Dale and Suzette Muck. Savannah will be a junior at Belvidere North High School this fall and aspires to attend the University of Minnesota and major in Nutrition and Dietetics to become a licensed dietician. Savannah is currently employed as a dance coach at the YMCA. Savannah’s honors include member of the Tri-Musical National Honor Society, 2 year Athletic Scholar Award, High Honor roll freshman and sophomore years, and 2008 Outstanding Musicmanship Award. The last three years she has qualified for IMEA, Illinois Music Education Association, and is a member of two Honor choirs, A Cappella and Choraliers. Savannah’s activities include 4-H member, 8 years, drill team, 1 year, school musicals at Belvidere North High School and various community performances with Bonzi Productions and The Boone County Main Street Players. Her hobbies include showing her horse “Smartee” and 10 years of showing cows, horseback riding, exercising, dancing and singing. Savannah is sponsored by BOONE COUNTY SPORTS. COM and her platform is Raising Self-Esteem In Young Girls. Queen Contestant # 6 Beth Ann Carner
Beth is the 21 year old daughter of Paul and Nancy Carner. Beth is a 2008 graduate of North Boone High School. During her senior year Beth also attended Rock Valley College’s CNA Program. Beth is attending Columbia College in Chicago and will be transferring to Beloit College this coming fall. She is majoring in Stage Management and minoring in History. She also plans on obtaining certification in Stage Combat to be able to freelance. Currently Beth is employed at P.A. Peterson Center for Health as a CNA. Beth’s honors include National Choral Award 2008 North Boone High School, Honors Diploma, Illini State Rep., and Belvidere Sister Cities French Ambassador. She is active in community production, The Main Street Players of Boone County, Rock Valley College Star-Lite Productions, Spot light on Kids Production Company, and Broadway Bound Too. Beth enjoys reading, working out, riding a four wheeler, spending time with family and friends and promoting the Arts. Jessica is the 16 year old daughter of Oscar and Frances Santiago. Jessica currently attends Belvidere High School and will be a senior this year. Her future plans include college and studying to become a Doctor. Special honors for Jessica include National Honor Society at Belvidere High School and National Society of High School Scholars. She is also a three year Varsity Athlete, cross country, basketball and track. Queen Candidate # 8 Mercedes Joy Chilson
Mercedes is the 17 year old daughter of Matthew and Teresa Stevens and Tony Chilson. Mercedes is currently a senior at Belvidere High School. She will be graduating early and attending Rock Valley College in the spring, where she will be getting her associates degree. Mercedes will then be pursuing a career in healthcare at Southern Illinois University where she will be obtaining her Masters Degree in Nursing. Queen Candidate # 9 McKenna Katherine Sophia Mitchell
McKenna is the 17 year old daughter of Shawn and Katherine Mitchell. Queen Candidate # 10 Erica Rose Romero
Erica is the 19 year old daughter of Hector and Rose Romero. She graduated from Belvidere High School. During Erica’s senior year she had the opportunity to be part of the Career Education Associates of North Central Illinois (CLEANCE) program at Rock Valley College. Through this program she was able to earn six college credits and her CNA license. Erica currently attends Northern Illinois University and plans to graduate with a Bachelors of Nursing and a minor in Spanish. Erica would like to work as an emergency room nurse. She also plans to specialize as a Nurse Anesthetist. Queen Candidate # 11 Stephanie Stella Aves
Stephanie is the 21 year old daughter of Kevin and Julie Aves. She graduated form North Boone High School in 2007. She is a senior at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville majoring in Agricultural Education. Queen Candidate #12 Malerie Allyce Guthrie
Malerie is the 20 year old daughter of Michael and Skeeter Guthrie. Malerie is a4th generation graduate from North Boone High School in 2009.
