FOOTBALL BSMS 8TH GRADE VS. SYCAMORE (B GAME) Date: 09/22/09 On Monday, the Belvidere South Middle School Bucs "B" football team traveled to Sycamore to take on the Spartans. Sycamore won out in this one 16-14, big plays being the deciding factor. Sycamore started the scoring in the first quarter with a 73 yard run down the right sideline. A pass for the 2-point conversion put Sycamore up 8-0. Belvidere came back in the second quarter as Adam Becker completed a nice 29 yard pass to Zack Garcia to lead a long drive down the field. Alex Slaven scored the touchdown from 3 yards out. A Becker to Shayne Keriazakos pass added 2 points and the game was tied at the half, 8-8. An interception by Dominicke Gayles and then strong running by Slaven got the Bucs their 2nd score. The conversion was no good, but Belvidere had the lead 14-8. Late in the 4th quarter, Sycamore threw a short pass that turned into a long gain, stopped only by the effort of Justin McGady as he ran him down from behind after a 62 yard gain. Unfortunately, the Spartans scored shortly after that and converted the 2-pt PAT and had the lead at 16-14. The game ended there as Belvidere turned it over on downs to end the game. Improved performances were turned in by Adam Becker who completed 5 of 8 passes for 87 yards. Alex Slaven had 11 carries for 67 yards rushing and 2 TD's. Adrian Trujillo had an interception on defense and Adrian Cardoso led the team in tackles from his middle linebacker position.
