FOOTBALL BSMS vs. BCMS 7TH GRADE Tuesday, 10/11/11 The Belvidere South 7th Grade Football Team defeated Belvidere Central Tuesday night to end the season on a high note. South started the game with possession of the ball, we maintained possession of the ball well at least half the first qtr. We were forced to punt, "we had a defensive game plan to cover 4 wide outs, on Centrals first possession and very first play they showed 5 wide outs, this forced our defense to spread out even more than planned". On Central's very first play they managed to get away and score,"talk about taking your breathe away". Luckily Central failed the 2 pt conversion to end the 1st qtr 6 - 0 Central. The second qtr was a hard fought battle of the defenses not allowing anyone to score making the score 6 - 0 Central at the half. After a very good pep talk at the half, the troops were rallied up and ready to take the field to start the 3rd qtr. Once again both defenses dominated and no one managed to score in the 3rd qtr, still 6 - 0 at the end of 3 qtrs. With possession of the ball going into the 4th qtr QB Danny Martin managed to find the end zone to tie up the score at 6 a piece. Again QB Danny Martin scored the 2 pt conversion on the very same play making the score 8 - 6 South. Central now was forced to go on the hurry up offense barely allowing the defense to get set. Gabe Budron came through with a big play by batting Central's pass causing lose ball to be recovered by South. With just 4 minutes to go in the game and with possession of the ball, FB Tyler Stowers marched the ball down field we time managed the final minutes to run the clock out and give South the big victory with a final score of 8 - 6. "Very enjoyable season with this group of kids, I told the team, we had our ups and downs through out the season, but you guys accomplished something never done before and that was beating Sycamore and Belvidere Central in the same season. Job well done!
