Results From Belvidere South 8th Grade Football Game Vs Harlem Sept.  6th

1st games of the season, odds were definitely not in our favor.  On our way to our playing field, coming around the corner, wow, you would have thought we were going up against Harlem's Varsity Team.  Harlem was in their pre-game warm up with six different stations with a coach at each station not to mention their 66 players to our 26.  For being the first game, our team stepped up to the challenge with huge defensive stops.  At the end of the 1st qtr it was 6 - 0 Harlem, at the half the score remained 6 - 0.  It wasn't until late in the fourth that Harlem managed to score again making a final score of 12 - 0.  Offensively, we had a couple of nice drives; unfortunately, our miscues denied us the end zone.  Our kids had an out standing performance; they never gave up and kept battling to the very end.
