Belvidere South Middle School achieved its' first win of the season, travelling to Dekalb to take on Huntley Middle School, 32-8.
The game opened with South getting the opening kickoff and returning out past midfield.  After no gain up the middle on 1st down, Troy Vandenbroek broke off tackle and sprinted 42 yards to the corner of the end zone.  South led 6-0 after a missed conversion.
Huntley made one first down before stalling on offense.  Belvidere took over on downs as the first quarter ended.  With Vandenbroek now at quarterback, a passing score of 27 yards was made to Shane Mains.  Another botched conversion left South with the lead, 12-0.
After another stalled Huntley possession, Vandenbroek ran around left end for another touchdown, this time from 47 yards.  Belvidere was now up 18-0.  The first half ended that way.
Huntley started on offense the second half, but again went nowhere.  After punting, South drove the field with Josh Hauser scoring from 5 yards out.  This time Luke Hearn ran in the 2-point conversion as the scored amounted to 26-0.
Belvidere threatened again soon after, but a fumble into the endzone left South without points on that drive.  Taking over on their own 20, Huntley did nothing but go backward.  Sacks put them inside their 10 and then a sack, fumble and Brad Ford recovering for Belvidere in the end zone added another 6 points to the South total.  The score then stood at 32-0.
Huntley scored a consolation touchdown late to finish the scoring at 32-8.
Offensively, Vandenbroek led the way in rushing.  Shane Mains had 3 receptions, Ian Staples had 2 receptions and Jared Keating had 1 catch.
Defensively, Vandenbroek had 3 1/2 sacks, Cole Johnson had a sack, Taylor Arrango had 1 1/2 sacks.  Linebacker Brett Jensen had 6 tackles and Nick Umlor had 5 pass defenses for incompletions.
