In an exciting season opener, the North Boone
Vikings Defeated the Winnebago Indians 31 to 20. The team looked strong and unified under the direction of
Coach Aaron Sullivan as they began the 2008 football season August 29th at 7:30 on their home Field.
The game began with the Winnebago Indians kick-off.
TheVikes immediately took charge of the game as running back Mitch Mischung made the first touch down of the season
giving them a 6 to 0 lead with 8:58 on the clock. The Viking defense was solid as they held
the Indians scoreless through out rest of the first quarter.
Early in the second quarter the Indians answered
back. Scoring a touch down and extra point the Indians stole the lead bringing it to a 7, 6 ball game with 11:31
on the clock. The Vikings immediately answered back on their next possession. At their own 33 yard line, wide
receiver, Jon Albrecht made the second Viking touch down of the game to take the lead back. The nail biting action
continued as the Indians scored once more with their next possession. This really got the Vikings going as seconds
later J. Albrecht made an 89 yard play for another Viking touch down putting them back in the lead with 5:57 left
to play in the quarter. It appeared as if the Indians would go into half time with the lead after scoring again
with 1:40 left in the quarter making the score 18 to 20, but the Vikings just wouldn't have it. So with 29 seconds
on the clock the Vikings took the lead back for the final time ending the half with a score of 24 to 20.
In the third quarter North Boone kept momentum high
with the team and the fans as they drove the ball to the Winnebago 5 yard line. The drive ended with a failed
field goal attempt however, the Indians only gained possession of the ball for a single play before defensive back
Jake Simmons made a fumble recovery for North Boone giving them a 1st and 10 at the Indian 20 yard line.
Unfortunately, the Vikings were not able to score on the Indians but still held the lead as the quarter ended at
24 to 20, Vikings.
With 4:08 left to play in the fourth quarter J.

they drove the ball deep into Viking territory but were not able to score. The Vikings regained possession of
the ball. With a 4th and 12 at their own 10 yard line the Vikings punted to the Indians. The Indians started with
a 1st and 10 at the Vikings 25 yard line. On the next Indian play with 22 seconds left in the quarter J.
