North Boone Vikings hosted the Genoa Cogs Friday night September 14th at 7:30 pm. This was a tough game for the Vikings as they struggled against the sizzling Cogs offense that scored a 42 to 7 victory.

The game started with a Genoa Cogs Kick-off and North Boone Vikings receiving. The Vikings did a nice job of moving the ball down field with their first possession. With a fourth and one at the Cogs 24 yard line the Vikings ended up short for the first down giving possession to the Cogs. Despite the focused Viking defense the Cogs managed to move the ball down field and player Martin Dwyer scored a touchdown with 4:09 left in the quarter.

The Cogs kicked-off to the Vikings. The Vikings drive ended with a fourth and seventeen at their own 23 yard line forcing them to punt. Unfortunately, the Cogs next drive ended up with a fifty seven yard play by Kevin Billington, giving them another touchdown leaving only one minute and thirty seconds in the first quarter. With a successful two point conversion the quarter ended with a score of 15 to 0, Cogs.

Second quarter proved to be even more brutal than first quarter as the Cogs hot streak continued. The Cogs scored three more touchdowns ending the first half with a score of 35 to 0, Cogs.

The second half started off with a Vikings kick-off and the Cogs receiving. With a first and ten at their own forty one yard line, the Cogs suffer a loss of six yards on their first play. At their own thirty five yard line, Cogs player T.C. Holterhaus ran sixty five yards for another Cog touchdown. Both teams were scoreless throughout the rest of the third quarter leaving a score of 42 to 0, Cogs.

Fourth quarter began with both teams struggling to move the ball. Near the end of the quarter Vikings player Ryan Majewski made a six yard pass reception for the first Viking touchdown of the game. The game ended with a final score of 42 to 7, Cogs. Viking Angelo Johnson led the team once again with a total of 119 rushing yards for the game. Leading players for pass receptions included Tyler Bielski with four pass receptions for a total of 40 yards and Ryan Majewski with four pass receptions for a total of 35 yards. Good effort guys, next week is a new game.
