FRISCH TAKES FIRST ROADRUNNER SUMMER RUMBLE WIN AT ROCKFORD

Wednesday, July 11, 2007 (Loves Park, IL) – The new RoadRunner Summer Rumble Series made its debut as part of the Ace Towing Wild Wednesday racing action. Charlie Frisch held off 23 other competitors to take the first win. David Russell, Sabrina Castillo, and Dennis Smith Jr. also collected feature wins.

Vachenzia Jester was the early leader in the 25-lap feature event. Frisch, who started sixth, used the inside line to work his way towards the front.

Frisch and the rest of the field were slowed on lap 5 when Robert Bielefeldt’s bumper came off on the front stretch.

Jester continued to lead on the re-start but only lasted a lap as Frisch go on the inside of Jester to challenge for the lead. On lap 6, Frisch took over the top spot as they went into turn one.

The caution flew on lap 17 for a big six car pile up in turns one and two. After the Rockford Speedway safety crew did a great job of getting the track back to racing conditions, it was Frisch continuing out front over Jester.

Frisch would pull away while Jester was in second fighting off Dan Sanders and Gene Marocco for the position.

With three laps to go, Marocco got on the inside of Jester to challenge for the second spot. The two raced side-by-side all the way to the checkered flag.

At the line, it was Frisch taking home the first RoadRunner Summer Rumble Series feature win. Jester would hold off Marocco for second. Dan Sander would come home fourth. Dennis Smith Jr. rounded out the top five.

Russell made a late race pass to take home the Crap Scrapper Hornet feature win.

Randy Reynolds jumped to the early lead in the 15-lap swarm. It appeared that Reynolds may be en route to an easy feature win, but Russell had a different plan in mind.

With 5 laps to go, Russell caught the rear bumper of Reynolds. Two laps later, Russell got on the inside of Reynolds coming out of turn four. The two raced side-by-side until Russell took over the lead going into turn three.

Russell would go on to the win while Nick Lasher got past Reynolds on the last lap to finish second. Ben Montemoyer was fourth and Mark Vicencio rounded out the top five.

Castillo easily cruised to another Stateline Staffing Service Winged Women on Wheels feature win.

Castillo grabbed the lead by getting past Latasha Hillary on lap 2 of the 12 lap feature event. Hillary tried to chase down Castillo but came up short at the line. Laura Siarkiewicz recovered from a hard crash in an earlier heat race to come back and finish third.

Smith picked up another Figure 8 feature win.

Smith started up front and was leading the field. Robert Stoltz spun earlier in the event and was trying to avoid going a lap down. The two made contact going into turn one causing Stoltz to spin and hit Ronald Stoltz, who was running second. Officials declared the race official with the finish going back to the order of the last completed lap with Ronald Stoltz in second and Chris Gantz in third.

This Saturday night, Bobcat of Rockford presents a Mid-Summer’s Night Scream. Doug Rose will make his annual appearance with the Green Mamba Jet Car. Along with the Felon Monster Truck, Smokey Burnouts, Illinois’s First Ever Skid Car Race, Motorhome Swimming Pool Jump, School Bus Figure 8 Race, Golf Cart Demo Derby, Gauntlet, the Crap Scrapper Hornets, Spectacular Drags and Monster Truck Rides. The action gets underway at 7:07 p.m.
