RamosSouth Beloit, IL - The Roscoe Rush would look forward to their opening appearance this year in their first pre-season game. They would play the Stateline Hawks of South Beloit. This would be the Rush's first game of the (pre-season) but not the Hawks'. The Hawks first game came last week against the Illinois Seahwaks with a victory of 12-0. The first quarter would see almost no scoring as both teams were working out their offenses. With 1:12 left in the second quarter Rush qaurterback, Jason Hufford, would throw a pass to receiver, Rob Feltner, from around the 44 yard line in for the first touchdown of the game. The kick would be good and just like that the Rush were on the board, 7-0. The Rush would again score on a field goal in the second quarter with only 19.2 seconds left, making the score 10-0. The end of the half would see the Stateline Hawks march down the field to Roscoe's 21 yard line. The Hawks would air out the ball and and score. The touchdown was negated however due to a penalty. A field goal attempt would be tried and blocked by the Rush to the delght of the Rush fans in attendance.. The score at the half would be 10-0. The start of the third quarter would go off with a bang for the Hawks. In their opening drive of the quarter, running back, Chris Appleton, would return a kick off for a touch down. The extra point would be no good. The score would be 10-6. Unfortunately for the Hawks there was only one other bang left, and that was left to the Rush.
