Roscoe Rush Beats the Central Illinois Cardinals in Home Opener, 20-0

Roscoe, IL - The Roscoe Rush would look forward to their opening appearance at home this year albeit with a late start. They would play the Central Illinois Cardinals from Kankakee. The game would start 20 minutes late of their scheduled time as most of the Cardinals were not at Riverside Park at 7:00.

In the first quarter, James Dock for Roscoe would set-up the first touchdown for the Rush by intercepting the ball. Five plays later, Brian Kelly for the Rush would rush in from the 9 yard line for their first points on the board. The kick would be no good and the score would be 6-0. Much like the first touchdown, the Rush would again intercept a Cardinal ball and would march down the field 45+ yards for a touchdown. The Rush would try for the 2 point conversion and would not succeed. The score at the half would be 12-0.

The Rush would score one more time during the game. At the 1:40 mark in tyhe fourth quarter, Justin Opengo would catch a pass and score making the score 18-0. The Rush would try for a 2-point conversion and score with Teddy Maclin running it in. The final would be 20-0.

 

The next game for the Rush is at home at Riverside Park in Roscoe at 7PM against the Rock County Gladiators. Come on out and support the Rush. Good job Rush!
