Roscoe, IL - What better way to spend a Saturday night than to watch some local hard hitting football. That is what many fans came to do on Saturday, June 23rd.  Due to scheduling conflicts, the venue for the game was changed several times and eventually the Rush would find themselves playing a home game. And good thing too as many fans would come out and see the Rush come out and show them their best start in franchise history (6-0) with their win over the Bucs of Windy City, 21-14.

The Rush would start the scoring off in the first quarter by driving the ball down the field on 16 plays and retaining possession of the ball most of the quarter. At the 1:44 mark in the quarter, Justin Opengo would score on a 26-yard pass. KC Goad's extra point kick would be good and the Rush would be on the board, 7-0.  On Windy City's first drive, the Bucs would get the ball at their own 38, run 3 plays and be intercepted by Roscoe (this would be the first of four interceptions of the day). This Windy City mistake would eventually cost them. Roscoe, again, would drive down the field and score on an 8-yard pass to Ryan Fleming at the 4:32 mark of the second quarter. Windy City's second drive, would eventually find themselves in the end zone with an 8-yard pass to wide receiver, Chris Bork, at the 1:47 mark of the second quarter. The extra point attempt by Windy City would miss. This would bring the score at the half to 14-6.

The second half would see both defenses playing solidly. Each holding the other from scoring until the fourth quarter. Windy City would tie the game at 14 points apiece at the 1:54 mark with a 23 yard pass to receiver, Chris Bork again. Stephan Fanthorpe would convert the 2 point conversion. The Bucs would kick off and the Rush would get the ball at their own 40. Rush quarterback, Jason Hufford would pass the ball to Justin Opengo who would wind his way 55-yards down to the 5-yard line. Jonathon Wiggins would then drive the ball in the rest of the way for the Rush win (Goad's kick would be good), 21-14.

The next game for the Rush is at Burlington Catholic Central against the Burlington Blue Devils at 7 PM. Both teams are 3-0 in IFL play. Come on out and support some hard nosed, hard hitting football. Good job Rush!
